Fishing
Chilko Lake Resort is situated at the north end of Chilko
Lake at the headwaters of the Chilko River. At eighty kilometres
long, Chilko Lake is the largest lake in the Coast Mountains
with Dolly Varden up to 12 pounds and Rainbow Trout up to 6
pounds.
To fish Chilko Lake, single barbless hooks must be used with
no live bait. We have all fishing supplies and licenses available
at the resort.
Guests may also test their fly fishing skills on the Chilko
River. Catch and release of Dolly Varden and Rainbow Trout
is permitted. Or come and view one of the largest annual runs
of sockeye salmon in British Columbia. Every year, from mid-August
to mid-October, hundreds of thousands of red sockeye salmon
return to their spawning grounds.
